Climate research at NILU

NILU’s central climate research focuses on studies of long-lived greenhouse gases, short-lived climate forcing agents (gases and particles that have shorter lifespans in the atmosphere), and the climate system itself, which includes meteorology, and the characteristics of the land, the sea and the ice.

Our vision is to provide new knowledge related to the emission, dispersion, transformation and deposition of climate drivers, and their effects on the climate system. Our climate research includes everything from experimental studies at the process level, to monitoring and modelling.
