NILU is preparing and conducting training concerning all aspects of air pollution.

Training programmes for expert personnel has been developed. Seminars and workshops as well as "on-the-job training" are important parts of the training programme.

An introduction to air quality monitoring and reporting is based on the booklet "Understanding Air Quality" prepared by NILU. When monitoring programmes is being developed calibration and installation of instruments will include on-the-job training procedures, which will be essential for taking over the operation of the system after the training period.

The training programme often consists on the following main activities:
1 Seminar.
An introductory 4 days seminar to modern air pollution monitoring and information systems.
2 Workshop.
A two weeks workshop to give training in the use of the monitoring platform (AirQUIS system).
3 On-the-job training.
An on-the-job training programme will be undertaken for daily instrument checks, calibration and maintenance including the use of Standard operations procedures and QA/QC manuals.

General institutional strengthening through air quality lectures and seminars are being prepared and undertaken world wide, designed specifically for the needs given by the customer.
