NILU supports Air Quality Management (AQM)

One of the main challenges in today’s society is to have timely and appropriate access to relevant and good quality environmental data. The aim is to enable actions whenever environmental requirements and limits are violated.

NILU has specialised in delivering systems for air quality surveillance and monitoring, as well as applicable management tools. Surveillance of air quality and abatement of air pollution is needed in cities and built-up areas in most countries. The resources required for the problem analyses, design, preparation and installation of adequate hardware and software systems are dependent on the complexity of the problem and the area.

According to the EU Framework Directive (96/62/EC) the EU member countries shall establish a monitoring and evaluation programme for air quality. Based on a preliminary assessment the countries shall establish procedures for continuous reporting (annually) depending on the air pollution levels.
