NILU has been involved in several EU funded research projects since the beginning of the nienties and has been responsible for database activities in more than 40 of these projects. In addition to this, other important activities include:- The EMEP data base for measurements of European air quality and pollution
- The NADIR data base for research related to stratospheric ozone depletion
- The campaign data base ESA-CDB which has been developed and hosted for the European Space Agency in connection with their planning and validation of satellites
Why do we have to organize data into databases? The collected data are organized into common systems in order to provide necessary scientific information for political discussions on reduction of atmospheric pollution. Data collected over a long time period the will furthermore provide a climatology (trends) of the variations in atmospheric pollutions and their impacts, both in an episodic way, by season and on annual basis. Previous data base projects Several data base projects have limited time and the measurements (or data production in general) will often end after a certain period. It is therefore of great importance that the collected data are stored and secured in a proper way when the project is finished. All data from previous projects are therefore maintained and securely archived for the future. A selection of such previous projects are presented in the links below:
