Asian pollution increases ozon levels over North America

News:

Springtime ozone levels above western North America are rising primarily due to air flowing eastward from the Pacific Ocean, a trend that is largest when the air originates in Asia. These increases in ozone could make it more difficult for the United States to meet Clean Air Act standards for ozone pollution at ground level, according to a new international study. The study was published in journal Nature on the January 21. The findings are also relevant for Europe, says Andreas Stohl from NILU, co-author of the article.

Extensive CO2 Research

News:

Norway is currently investing 150 million kroner for research in the field of CO2 capture, storage, and transport. NILU has an important role in this work through studying the consequences of the amines which are used in the capture process. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the greenhouse gas which contributes the most to climate change. Norway¿s CO2 emissions are actually 80% of the total greenhouse gas emissions released from the entire country. The discovery of new methods and technologies to limit CO2 emissions will have enormous positive gains for future climacteric conditions.
